A note from Amy:

I truly believe that the essence of being human is resiliency. We all have the ability to survive life’s difficulties, and with focused support and reflection, thriving is possible for anyone.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and having been a New Yorker for 15 years, I am familiar with many different lifestyles and approaches. I understand the transitions and stressors of being a transplant from the West Coast and adapting to a new life. I received my Masters in Social Work from Hunter College and have since worked in the programmatic and clinical capacity facilitating groups and providing individual therapy for an array of issues including bereavement, traumatic loss, illness, maternal mental health, infertility, and caregiver support. Identification with others is key and can create a safe, down to earth, and judgment-free environment. I also work with client’s on self-esteem, self-worth, anxiety, depression, and relationships.

My Approach

I often take a relational approach to my therapy sessions. The primary goal of relational psychotherapy is to help clients better understand how they operate in relation to others and how their relating patterns can have an impact on mental and emotional well-being. I encourage my clients to help them understand and take into consideration the dynamics in their family systems growing up as well as the impact of social issues such as class, race, gender, religion, and culture. These dynamics can help us inform how to navigate traumatic experiences, self-defeating behaviors, and overwhelming life transitions. I also believe that the client and therapist working together to forge a strong, collaborative, and secure relationship can help to serve as a model for the client’s future relationships with others including the most important relationship with yourself.

Now, more than ever, everyone needs extra support during these unprecedented times. I’m looking forward to actively listening to you and helping you break barriers, so you can truly thrive.
