A Good Place Therapists in Training

At AGP, we offer second year field placements for interns to develop their clinical psychotherapy skills and build upon their foundational social work training they receive during their first year of social work school.

The ideal AGP intern is inquisitive, flexible-minded, self-aware, has a passion for thinking outside of the box, has a growth mindset, and an interest in program development and community engagement. The intern position typically involves a combination of clinical responsibilities (client caseload) and administrative or community engagement tasks (outreach, developing partnerships, etc.) Students are also encouraged to involve themselves in group supervision, the antiracism collective, peer supervision and other opportunities for growth offered by the practice to enhance their clinical skills.

Students typically go through 2-3 rounds of interviews with full-time therapy staff and the clinical director. We also make sure all students interview with at least two potential supervisors to ensure a goodness of fit before acceptance.

At the current moment, students have the flexibility to work virtually or see clients in person based on their level of safety and comfort. Students may work with a variety of populations including individuals, families, children and adolescents. They will learn basic interpersonal psychotherapy skills, CBT, DBT and mindfulness, among other skills and techniques.

Students are recommended to utilize their school's field placement office to find out how to get in touch with us. They can also email the clinical and educational coordinator, Kara Lissy, at Kara@agoodplacetherapy.com.
