A note from Ashli:

You are enough.  You have everything you need right inside of you, sometimes it is just buried so deep, feels so far away, or you don’t even know that it is in there.  Sort of like a diamond in the rough, we sometimes need someone to help us dust off the dirt and give us the tools so that we can shine and find our way.  Your feelings come up because they are real and inviting you to notice something; to do something different.  They belong and are a part of you.  Let’s get to know all parts of you, even the scary, strange, unconventional stuff.  Yes, that belongs, too.

As a therapist, I enjoy cultivating authentic relationships with clients and learning about the communities in which you both thrive in and have endured pain in. I’m curious about how you connect with others and how your past experiences impact your relationships and the energy you carry every day.  Cross-cultural differences, family systems, and past trauma can make navigating our interpersonal relationships messy and cloud our thoughts.  We’ll explore your narrative and the lens through which you see yourself to better understand and rebuild your relationship with yourself and others.  Using evidence-based practices and fine-tuning therapy to meet your individual needs, I can help empower your sense of self, enabling deeper connections with the world.

With experience in community based mental health, criminal justice reform, trauma, and addiction, working in multi-ethnic and multi-socioeconomic populations in San Francisco, I bring a wide array of perspective, cultural humility, and context to the way I work with clients and affirm their strengths.  I take a systems and racial-trauma informed approach and want to understand your relationships, in addition to using Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness practices to begin to shift the way you do life.  Our experiences shape us, so learning your history, the history of your people, and the story in which you live is crucial to supporting you and your healing.

My Approach

I believe in mind-body connection and through both mental and physical dialogue, we can heal. I encourage movement, meditation, and varying forms of spiritual practice that fit your life or steer you in a direction that resonates.  I support a holistic approach to my mental health practice and want to explore all parts of you – including the funny, silly, day to day mundane that make you, you. We are multi-dimensional beings and it isn’t fair to box things up, rather exploring life on a spectrum enables the freedom to grow. It’s not about changing entirely, instead a sort of rebranding, where we get to the know the things that are no longer working and give ourselves permission to try something new.

Let’s work together if you’re an adult suffering from depression, anxiety, difficult family dynamics, unhealthy relationships, experiencing cross-cultural challenges, transitions in life/school/career stages, gender/sexuality identity, anger, or just need overall support in working through interpersonal struggles and finding motivation. Additionally, I provide support in both Spanish and Portuguese and in navigating first-generation experiences in the US.  I look forward to hearing your story and am honored to sit with you.
