Serving Children, Teens, Adults, and LGBTQ Individuals

It is my belief, and the main force behind my work, that what we can label and understand can help us better manage the stressors and concerns that we are confronted with.

If you or your child are struggling with concerns pertaining to anger, behavioral management, ADHD, impulsivity, stress, anxiety, depression, family and relationship dynamics, parenting, life changes and transitions, self-esteem, or LGBTQ-specific issues, then I am confident I can help.  I've worked with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings and professional capacities, including schools, an outpatient mental health clinic, a crisis center within child welfare, and an LGBTQ youth center. These experiences have helped solidify my understanding and skill set in meeting the myriad of needs of individuals and families of various backgrounds and life stages.

I personalize my work to best address and treat each individual's specific needs and concerns, combining elements from several different evidence-based modalities, including psychodynamic therapies, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused, Parent-Child Interactional, Family, and Narrative Therapies.

For children, you may refer to me as a "feelings doctor" as we seek to explore and understand our feelings (e.g., how and why we are feeling a certain way), mainly through art and play therapy. I apply the same principles to my work with adults: creating a judgment-free, safe space to allow for free exploration of your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. I seek to assist you in increasing insights and awareness, strengthen your coping strategies, and maximize your potential to effectively and efficiently function and thrive in your day to day life. Often the work will include the development and strengthening of concrete skills, such as communication, interpersonal, parenting, anger management, and mindfulness.

I don't believe you have to be in crisis to be in therapy. I believe therapy can be beneficial for almost anyone and that it can just be like going to the gym or doctor. We seek out these services to maintain optimal health and well-being and prevent things from getting too much out of our control. Therapy won't make all of your anxieties, worries, or sadness magically disappear, but it can help you find the right tools and insights to cope with your concerns and thrive, regardless of the difficulties you face.
